Apple of Peru ( Nicandra physalodes) - Annual € ()
A beautiful,incredibly vigorous member of the Solanacea family, not dissimilar to the Cape gooseberry but grown for its flower rather than for its fruit. The flower pods are small Chinese-lanterns which then develop into wonderful lilac-purple flowers with a white central pentagon and deep purple star inset. Attractive to bees and other insects, producing an abundance of seed which is easily saved.
