Cherokee Trail of Tears

Quantity in Stock:
Product Code: SEED-CHER

This heirloom bean was preserved by Cherokee Indians as a staple food when forced out of their homelands on the ‘trail of tears’ in 1838. It’s a prolific variety with lovely pink flowers and slim green pods that turn purple as they mature. Use the fresh beans when they are approx. 15cm long or leave to dry on the plant as the small black beans are good for storage. When the pods begin to turn purple, the plant itself becomes most strikingly decorative.
