Sweet Monas Dill Herb

Quantity in Stock:
Product Code: 1036

Very easy to grow, sow in April, with lovely aromatic ferny leaves, used in salads, pickles and sauces. The seeds are also used for flavouring (particularly in gherkins) Lovely flowers, with clear lemon-yellow heads, attractive to any beneficial insects.

3 of 5 Nice flavour but tricky to get going. September 28, 2017
Reviewer: Mark from Tallaght
I have had very little success getting seeds to germinate then seedlings to take off. Once they take off they really can get going but be prepared to frustratingly loose a heck of a lot of seed and seedlings. Dill is believed to have originated in the Nordics which is odd because I've noticed for this variety it does not like cool or overly wet conditions which we often have right up to May. But seedlings dont particularly like an overly warm glasshouse/window sill either so can take a bit of time getting this to grow. I've noticed it tends to have the herb come out in spots along the stems rather than having a large plumage. One very nice surprise is if you let it go to flower you can pick off the flower, rub them between your finger and thumb and a really nice seasoning just drops off the flower. Its not the strongest flavour but its almost just right so I like it, not too overpowering. Definitely worthwhile growing.
